Miss Virginia International™ 2019

Kelly Seibold

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
As an elementary school teacher, I have the joy of being able to teach all subjects in school. My favorite subject to teach is Science. Children already go through a natural scientific method every day by exploring what interests them. Harnessing this spark of curiosity has a ripple effect and spreads across all content areas. I aim to teach children that education is about broadening your horizons and not just grade. For me, that starts with finding your curiosity through Science.

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
Being passionate would have to be both a strength and weakness of mine. I put my whole heart into my passions, whether it is my students, my platform, or simply finding a gift for a friend. I have a specific view and won’t stop until I feel it is perfected. However, this comes as a weakness for me as I can often get too carried away and have difficulty managing it all.

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
A titleholder should be a visionary. They should not only uphold their beliefs and that of the Miss International system but be able to create an image of what the system can become and make it attainable. In order to capture the essence of a visionary, a title holder should be relatable. Being able to connect and communicate effectively with others is a vital quality to making dreams a reality.

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
It is said that eyes are the windows to the soul. If that is so, eyelashes are the shutters to those windows. They help capture the attention of others and invite you into the soul. This is why I could not live without mascara. It enhances my confidence to allow others to witness my true spirit.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
One of my favorite quotes is, “From the outside looking in you can’t understand it, from the inside looking out you can’t explain it.” I feel society has negative views on pageantry, it is difficult for those outside of the “pageant world” to understand the positive aspects. They see the headlines, and not the true experience. There are not enough words to truly explain the positive impact pageantry makes on women’s lives.
