Miss Delaware International™ 2019

Mina Nekoueian

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
If I could teach a class in school, it would have to be music. Music speaks directly into your soul and brings out your inner artist. With music, you have the ability to be creative and express yourself in ways that words cannot do. It’s is also a way to de-stress yourself and indulge in something that allows you to get lost in thought and subconsciously, create something extraordinary.

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
Possessing the ability to be organized will have to be one of my strengths. I become exceptionally enthusiastic when my mind starts consolidating thoughts and creates a to-do-list simultaneously. I can easily overthink everything and overwhelm myself and this, has to be my weakness. Getting into deep thought about something happening in the near future or simply just trying to be a “perfectionist” can cause unnecessary anxiety. However, overtime, I’ve learned to control it.

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
A titleholder needs to be passionate about her platform and be eager to get involved in her community. Upholding her end on making a difference in her community, whether it is raising awareness or raising money, it’s a crucial characteristic that ultimately, Miss International will need to possess . Perseverance plays big role in passion. Making mistakes is inevitable in a titleholder’s journey, however, getting out there and picking up the pieces is what counts.

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
I simply cannot leave the house without my mascara. It’s an essential product in my everyday life. Not only does is provide confidence, but it gives my surroundings an opportunity to ponder about “what I’m all about.” Also, eyes can speak louder than words. Your mouth can say one thing, but your eyes will complete the true meaning behind your words by adding a little compassion, a sprinkle of fierceness, and a dash of confidence.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
There are negative controversies out there that automatically rule women as “illiterate” and “conceited” when they realize they compete in pageants. If anyone takes a moment see what these women have accomplished to even have the opportunity to compete, surely, their minds would change. Pageantry is rewarding, creates opportunities to network, and most important of all, it creates a sisterhood that allows women to learn about each other form lifelong friendships.
