Miss Georgia International™ 2018

Kaylee Ewing - Miss International 2018 - Photogenic Award

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
Iím a true Georgia girl, so providing warm entertainment through southern hospitality is second-nature to me. However, being Miss Georgia International is about service. Whether Iím volunteering with The Salvation Army or providing those in need with tangible resources, this year isnít about me. Service and a servantís heart lead to the understanding that there may not be worldly recognition for the service you complete, but serving exceeds anything you could ever receive.

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
From Jackie O. to Princess Diana, the most successful women have looked hardship straight in the eye and decided to use the obstacle as an opportunity. After being sexually assaulted and losing my dad, I, too, have decided to harness my pain and cultivate it into a passion to empower others to make courageous choices in life-altering events. With many journeys ahead, I use this mentality as a guidepost for future circumstances.

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
My parents raised me to put others before myself and be a responsible steward of the abilities I have been blessed with. This mindset makes saying ďnoĒ quite hard because I genuinely do want to help others. Through mentorship, leadership roles, and my volunteer opportunities, I always make room in my life to inspire, empower and assist others. However, saying ďnoĒ to a piece of chocolate may be the hardest no in the world.

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
I spend a lot of time behind my computer working toward my degree, out in the community serving through my organization BRAVE, and on campus serving numerous organizations. With one extra hour in the day, Iíd love to devote it to spending even more time with friends, family and my mini pig - Scout. Over the past two years, Iíve learned to truly treasure every moment we have with the ones we love most.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
In 2015, I created BRAVE and since its inception, I have always dreamed that it would be more than a program. Recently, that dream has come to fruition. I am now in the process of filing BRAVE for 501©(3) status in Georgia. My next dream is to receive national 501©(3) status. I know in my heart that Iíve been given life-altering circumstances so that I can inspire others to never give up.
