Miss Texas International™ 2018

Gracie Hunt - Top Ten

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
Service entails giving freely of your time and energy, putting the needs of others above your own. I believe that living “I’m Third”: putting God first, others second, and yourself third exemplifies selflessness and service. Similarly, hospitality places the needs of others above your own, and is simply part of “the golden rule.” Whether opening your heart, home, or lending a helping hand, kindness presides in both service and hospitality.

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
Successful women believe in themselves and work to be the heroine of not only their own story, but others as well. Ambition, perseverance, confidence, and resourcefulness emerge as common qualities in women who find success. I’ve found fulfillment through using my voice to empower and inspire other people. By serving, educating, and impacting those around me, I believe that I will successfully make a real difference and leave the world a better place.

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
I find it both difficult and easy to say “no” depending on the situation. I’ve always been one to walk the road less travelled, even if it seemed harder at times. However, when it comes to any adventure, spending more time with my Special Olympics athletes, or going for a spontaneous workout, all I can say is “yes!”

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
I am actually a morning bird and love waking up early to get my day started, so I would have to say that I would love to spend those extra seven hours in a week divided between family time, running sports clinics for kids, and continuing to leverage my school-sports program and my nonprofit, Breaking Barriers Through Sports.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
5. I am a focused, goal-oriented person with many dreams for the future. I plan to graduate with honors from Southern Methodist University and expand my nonprofit program into international schools. I strive to promote inclusivity, respect, and break social, racial, economic, and disability barriers. One day, I also aspire to be a sports broadcast journalist, marrying my Journalism degree and passion for sports and how they serve as a universal language.
