Miss South Dakota International™ 2018

Jenna Schweiss

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
Growing up in South Dakota taught me so much about lifeís essential values, with service and hospitality being no exceptions! Service is our public duty to those around us. We are called upon to serve our communities in whatever way we can, and to the best of our abilities! Hospitality, on the other hand, is our humanitarian duty to treat others with the same generosity and kindness that we wish to be treated with!

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
Every successful woman, whose vision became a reality, was once a little girl with a dream! No matter where we came from in life, or what path we took to get where we are today, we all followed our dreams. Now, we are writing our own fairy tale endings, to be read to the next generation of little girls, where the princesses save themselves and we all put on our crowns and conquer together!

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
Yes, I find it easy to say no. Choosing to focus on ourselves should be at the top of our to do lists, because for some of us, turning our dreams into realities is how we will be able to continue helping both others and ourselves! Learning to stand on my own two feet, creating an identity for myself, and being who I want to be, regardless of the approval of others, is important.

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
If I had one more hour in every day, I would read more books. Books have a way of taking you on the journey of a lifetime, simply with the turning of a single page! A book is a dream you can hold in your hand, and a gift that can be opened again and again. Iíd read more, not so I could live less of a life, but so I could live many.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
There are many things I could write for this. I dream of climbing mountains, visiting other countries, and making a difference in this world, but, the truth is, Iíve already done a lot of those things. However, I have begun to learn that not every dream has to be big. Now, I dream of making a difference in smaller communities, and using my accomplishments to help inspire them to achieve successes of their own.
