Miss Louisiana International™ 2018

Ana Alicia Scott

If you could teach a class in school, what would it be?
Hospitality is making people feel welcome and at home no matter where they are. Service is giving of yourself to others to improve or enhance their life. As a servant leader, I work hard through my platform, Self-love Overcoming Domestic Violence, to empower women to break the cycle of violence and find a pathway to success.

Name one of your strengths and one of your weaknesses
My mother always says that success is in the prep. Whether youíre baking a cake or studying for college, how you prepare helps you achieve your goals. Her advice has helped me to graduate from college, pursue a career in public service, and become a dedicated community volunteer. And her advice even helped me bake a delicious Italian Cream Cheese Cake. I guess Mom always knows best.

What qualities do you feel a titleholder should possess?
I have always been a people-person who is ready and willing to help others. But over time Iíve learned to prioritize and set boundaries. Iíve learned to practice self-love and understand that I canít help others if I donít help myself first. When Iím in a situation where I have to say ďnoĒ, I always suggest a solution or refer them to someone who may be able to help.

What makeup item could you not live without and why?
If I had one more hour each day I would spend it with my family. I donít think anything can replace the love and support Iíve felt from each member of my family. Weíve laughed together, cried together, and encouraged each other. They have supported me in everything Iíve done and if I had extra time I would use it to repay their love.

Do you feel that beauty pageants help or hurt how society views women?
During middle school, I struggled with the same self-esteem issues that every girl experiences. My family lifted me up with words of encouragement and helped me become the woman I am today. I noticed that some of my friends were not blessed with a supportive family. I always dreamed of creating a program based on self-love to help my friends, and girls like them, blossom into the young women they were meant to be.
