Miss New York International™ 2020

Ashley Lyles

What is the First thing you notice about a person?
I usually notice a personís disposition first. I tend to be very intuitive and can almost immediately pick up on a personís energy.

What goals do you have for the new 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to be at the end of my medical school journey. I am a graduate of New York University's Science, Health & Environmental Reporting Program (NYU SHERP). Previously, I studied professional writing and took premedical courses at Michigan State University (MSU). My ultimate career goal is to be a medical journalist and a cardiologist, and in 5 years, I intend to be well on my way to reaching that goal.

What is the first thing you would do if you win the lottery?
Every girl loves a good handbag, right? So maybe a nice Birkin bag! But all jokes aside, I would donate to the Cardiovascular Research Foundationís Womenís Heart Health Initiative as womenís heart health is a cause near to my heart. Then, I would meet with some sort of financial planner to come up with a strategy for the rest.

What is the most useless you have ever purchased?
Probably an old school alarm clock. I hardly ever use it. It just sits in the corner of my apartment. I use my cell phone to stay on schedule.

What is the best way to spend a rainy afternoon?
With a hot cup of tea, a little Taylor Swift playing in the background, and a good book!
